Girl, Wash Your Face

So, this post is all about my opinion.  That is okay, because Guess What?????  This is my blog!  I have heard absolutely wonderful things about this book and I have also heard it come under some severe scrutiny.  I figured, since I have actually read the book, that I would let y'all know what I think. First things first.  Is this a "Christian book".  I would say maybe.  The author professes to be a Christian woman and does use Scripture and Christian principles throughout the book.  She does speak on issues that are usually taboo in the church....like sex.  And she does tell stories that may not aligned with perfect Christian Principles. Here is my take.  She is not a perfect Christian, she has since and she shares her since and struggles.  HELLO!  So, she's like me ;)  But, seriously, none of us are perfect or walk our Christian Life perfectly.  On to her topics.  Well, there again, I applaud her.  May...

The Choices You Make

Have you ever thought about the daily, sometimes insignificant choices that you make?  What do you do first thing in the morning?  Why?  Just because that's what you have always done and you really have never thought about doing it a different way? What if you were to think about the choices you make every day and actually CHOOSE to make sure that the small daily disciplines of life are actually benefiting you and not harming you.  For example, do you eat sweets every night while watching TV for a few hours?  Do you do this just because you always have?   What if you choose to change the process and eat some fruit while you read a book???  Small choices compound over time.  Think of the long term effects of the two choices above. The TV and sweets over five years will gain you some weight and probably very little to no knowledge.  The fruit and a book will gain loads of knowledge and better health! We make small choices every day t...

Lies Women Believe

This book has been life changing for me.  It is eye opening to see how many lies we have bought into simply because society put them out there for us to ponder.  What we "feed" our minds is a very dangerous thing.  When we let society be the driving force behind our decisions and thoughts we can venture into dangerous territory. Just think about how many rules, laws, thought and agendas have changed in the years that you have been alive.  So, why would we allow something that is constantly changeing to be the driving force behind our values and beliefs for ourselves and our families?  I believe in the solid and unchangeable word of God as truth. This book uses the word of God, the Bible, to show truths that contradict what society has taught us.  We as women are especially vulnerable to believing lies I believe simply because of our passionate hearts!  How often has a loved one been late to get home or call you?  Where does your mind tend t...

Books...Books...and more Books

I absolutely love to read.  It is one of my favorite past times.  I don't usually read fiction.  I tend to like topics associated with health and wellness, business, Biblical, Bible studies, child rearing, home making, etc.  I also a book hoarder!  I hate to share books and because I am a "scribbler" I also do not like to use library books.  Now, don't get me wrong, we use the library for many of our reading books and home school necessities.  I just prefer my own books to be scribble-able!  Yes, I just made my own word--and it's okay....after all, it is my blog. This category will be a sort of book review list.  As I read books or as I take time to write reviews on ones I have already read, I will post under this heading.  If you have great suggestions, please comment and let me know as I love new book suggestions! My ALWAYS and most FAVORITE book: My current reading materials ;)
